Fall 2026 is a heavyweight season: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is finally running weekly on Netflix, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus has taken over the One Piece Sunday slot in Japan, The Apothecary Diaries is back for Season 3, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 dropped all its episodes at once on October 20. If you only have room for a few shows, start with those four, then add Blue Box Season 2 or Psyren depending on your taste.

Below is the full cheat sheet: premiere dates, studios, where each show streams, and our honest take. Streaming rights differ by country, so treat the "where to watch" column as the main English-language home (mostly US/Canada) and check your own region.

The four shows everyone is talking about

Steel Ball Run is finally weekly

After a single 47-minute first episode in March and months of silence, Netflix restarted Steel Ball Run on September 25 with 11 episodes released once a week through December 4. If you are confused about where we are in the schedule, our Steel Ball Run release schedule has every date.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is a remake, not a sequel

Toei calls it an "enhanced" edition of Dragon Ball Super: reconstructed story, redrawn cuts and new audio, starting from Beerus waking up after the Majin Buu fight. In Japan it took over the Sunday 11:15 p.m. Fuji TV slot that One Piece used. Streaming is unusually messy (Crunchyroll, Hulu and Netflix all have a piece of it depending on country), so we wrote a separate where-to-watch guide.

The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 is split in two

Maomao is back on Crunchyroll every Friday. The second half is set for April 2027, and the total episode count has not been officially confirmed. Dates are in our Season 3 release schedule.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is a new crew

All 10 episodes are already on Netflix, and it is a standalone Night City story from Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red. You do not need Season 1 to follow it, though you should watch it anyway.

Where the One Piece slot went

If you watch One Piece weekly: the anime moved to two cours a year in 2026, and the first Elbaph cour ended with episode 1180 on September 27. New episodes return in 2027 with no date yet. Our One Piece watch guide covers where it stands, plus Netflix's WIT Studio remake.

Our opinion: the shortlist

This is opinion, not a ranking from any poll:

  1. The Apothecary Diaries S3: the most consistently satisfying show on air.
  2. Steel Ball Run: the best source material of the season, finally getting proper weekly attention.
  3. Aoashi S2: underrated; football tactics anime done right.
  4. Blue Box S2: if you want a romance that takes its time.
  5. Psyren: the gamble. Jump fans have waited over a decade for this one.

Skip-unless-you-love-the-genre: most of the isekai sequels. They are fine, but there are only so many hours in the week.
