Start One Piece at episode 1 on Crunchyroll, the most complete legal source in most countries, and skip filler as you go (about 8% of the series). If 1,180 episodes is too much, WIT Studio's THE ONE PIECE remake hits Netflix in February 2027 with seven episodes covering the beginning of the story. The original anime is on a break after episode 1180 (September 27, 2026) and returns in 2027, date not yet announced.

One Piece in late 2026: where things stand

  • The anime is on break. Since 2026, Toei produces One Piece in two cours a year (26 episodes) instead of weekly year-round. The first Elbaph season ended with episode 1180 on September 27, 2026. The official account confirmed a 2027 return with no date.
  • Its TV slot is taken. In Japan, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus took over the Sunday Fuji TV slot from October 11 (our Beerus guide).
  • A remake is coming. THE ONE PIECE by WIT Studio arrives on Netflix in February 2027: 7 episodes, about 300 minutes, all released at once. It covers roughly the first 50 manga chapters, through Luffy meeting Sanji at the Baratie. Director: Masashi Koizuka.
  • A film is coming. One Piece Film God Valley is scheduled for 2027 in Japan.

Every One Piece arc with episode numbers

Episode ranges follow the official home-video "seasons". Some seasons bundle a canon arc with a short filler arc. Light spoilers: arc names only.

Saga / arc Episodes Count Skip?
East Blue 1–61 61 Never. This is the foundation
Entering the Grand Line 62–77 16 Watch (Warship Island filler, 54–60, sits at the end of East Blue)
Drum Island (Chopper) 78–92 15 Watch
Alabasta 93–130 38 Watch
TV original (post-Alabasta) 131–143 13 Skippable filler
Skypiea 144–195 52 Watch (it's better than its reputation)
G-8 & Long Ring Long Land 196–228 33 G-8 (196–206) is filler but beloved; Long Ring Long Land is canon
Water 7 229–263 35 Watch
Enies Lobby (ends with Ice Hunter filler, 326–336) 264–336 73 Watch: peak One Piece
Thriller Bark 337–381 45 Watch
Sabaody Archipelago 382–407 26 Watch
Amazon Lily 408–421 14 Watch
Impel Down 422–456 35 Watch
Marineford 457–516 60 Watch
Fish-Man Island 517–578 62 Watch (slow, but important)
Punk Hazard 579–628 50 Watch
Dressrosa 629–746 118 Watch (long; see tip below)
Zou 747–782 36 Watch
Whole Cake Island 783–891 109 Watch
Wano Country 892–1088 197 Watch: best-looking arc in the anime
Egghead 1089–1155 67 Watch
Elbaph 1156–1180 (ongoing) 25 so far Watch; continues in 2027

Our opinion on pacing: pre-Wano episodes, especially Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island, stretch chapters thin. If that bothers you, 1.25× playback is a legit tool. Wano onwards looks noticeably better.

Which One Piece filler can you skip?

Anime Filler List counts about 94 filler episodes (around 8%), far lower than Naruto. The biggest blocks:

Filler block Episodes
Warship Island 54–60
Post-Alabasta 131–143
G-8 196–206
Ocean's Dream 220–225
Ice Hunter 326–336
Spa Island 382–384
Little East Blue 426–429
Z's Ambition 575–578
Caesar Retrieval 626–627
Silver Mine 747–750
Marine Rookie 780–782
Cidre Guild 895–896

There are also single filler episodes scattered through the run (for example 102, 492, 542, 590, 907 and 1029–1030); Anime Filler List has the full list.

Our take: G-8 is the one filler arc worth watching. Everything else can go.

Where to watch One Piece (late 2026)

Service What it has Notes
Crunchyroll The deepest library in most regions, plus new episodes when they air Best choice if you're starting from episode 1
Netflix A partial run in the US (JustWatch lists 6 seasons); varies a lot by country Netflix also gets the WIT Studio remake in Feb 2027
Hulu (US) A smaller selection
Amazon (buy) Episodes and seasons to purchase

JustWatch's US listing changes often, so check it (or your local equivalent) before subscribing. The live-action Netflix series is a separate show; don't confuse the two when searching.

Three ways to start One Piece

Route Start at Best for
Full experience Episode 1 Anyone with time; nothing replaces it
Remake first THE ONE PIECE (Netflix, Feb 2027), then original from ep. 62 People put off by 1999 animation
Manga hybrid Read the manga to Enies Lobby, then join the anime around episode 337 Fast readers

Opinion: If you're starting now, don't wait for February. East Blue in the original anime still works. If you're on the fence about the old animation, the remake is a great test of whether the story hooks you.

How long does it take to watch One Piece?

At around 24 minutes an episode, 1,180 episodes is roughly 470 hours with openings and recaps. Skip the 94 filler episodes, OPs and previews, and it drops a lot, but this is still a months-long commitment. One episode a day takes over three years; five a day gets you caught up in about eight months, conveniently before the next cour ends.

FAQ

How many episodes of One Piece are there?

1,180 as of September 27, 2026, when episode 1180 closed the first cour of the Elbaph arc. New episodes return in 2027.

Where can I watch all of One Piece?

Crunchyroll has the most complete library in most regions. Netflix and Hulu carry partial runs in the US. Availability changes by country.

Can I skip to a later arc?

You can, but we don't recommend skipping before Enies Lobby (around episode 336). If you're short on time, skip filler instead of canon arcs.

Is the Netflix One Piece remake a good place to start?

It will be. WIT Studio's THE ONE PIECE launches on Netflix in February 2027 with 7 episodes covering the start of East Blue. If you want to start now, the original anime's East Blue arc is episodes 1–61.

When does One Piece come back in 2027?

No date has been announced. The anime now airs two cours (about 26 episodes) per year; a spring 2027 return is likely but unconfirmed.
