Chainsaw Man Season 2 Release Date: Assassins Arc Status

There's no Chainsaw Man Season 2 release date yet, and officially there isn't even a "Season 2." The next anime is Chainsaw Man – Assassins Arc (チェンソーマン 刺客篇, Chensō Man Shikaku-hen). MAPPA announced it on December 21, 2025 as a direct sequel to the Reze Arc movie. As of November 6, 2026 there's no date, no window, and no word on whether it's a TV season or another film. The next real chance of news is the Chainsaw Man stage at Jump Festa 2027 on Sunday, December 20, 2026.

Here's what's official, what isn't, and how to watch everything legally right now.

Chainsaw Man's next anime at a glance

Why "Season 2" is in quotes: fans and plenty of outlets call it Season 2, but MAPPA has only ever used the Assassins Arc title. The Reze Arc was a movie, so the next part could be one too. ComicBook.com and CBR both pointed out that the format is unconfirmed, and nothing official since has changed that.

Everything announced so far (timeline)

• September 19, 2025: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc opens in Japan (Toho). It reached North America on October 24, 2025.
• December 21, 2025: at Jump Festa 2026, the official site announces that Assassins Arc is in production, with a teaser visual and promo video (PV). It's billed as the sequel to the Reze Arc film, with assassins coming for Denji's heart.
• June 19, 2026: at MAPPA's 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal livestream, a second teaser shows new characters and confirms the staff. Yoshihara directs, and he also storyboarded the teaser. The same stream announces a Chainsaw Man smartphone game with an opening theme by Maximum the Hormone. No release date was given for either.
• August 25, 2026: the Reze Arc film is announced as a Prime Video streaming exclusive in Japan from September 19, 2026.
• September 21, 2026: a Reze Arc CINEMA LIVE 2027 concert screening is announced for February 13–14, 2027 at Pacifico Yokohama.
• Autumn 2026: Jump Festa 2027 puts Chainsaw Man on its main Jump Super Stage, billed as a stage "for the anime Chainsaw Man – Assassins Arc."

That's everything official. If a site gives you a specific Assassins Arc premiere date right now, it's a guess.

The Jump Festa 2027 panel: December 20

Jump Festa is Shueisha's big year-end event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. It's also where the Assassins Arc was first announced a year ago. The slot, from the official Jump Festa site:

Toya's guest comment jokes that he's lonely being the only named guest, "as lonely as Denji right after the Reze Arc." A dedicated Assassins Arc stage is the most likely place for a new trailer, a format reveal or a release window, but nobody has promised a date.

TV season or movie? (our take)

This part is my opinion, not an announcement.

The Reze Arc movie was a monster hit. By late March 2026 it had made over ¥10.8 billion in Japan, and the official site celebrated 6.55 million admissions back in January. Here in Japan it stayed in theaters for months, with cheer screenings, all-nighters and a "final" stage greeting in March. With numbers like that, another film would make business sense.

On the other hand, the manga's next arc is about 18 chapters (chapters 53–70, per CBR), a bit longer than the Reze Arc. That's comfortable for a one-cour TV run. (A cour is a TV block of about three months, usually 11 to 13 weekly episodes.) Season 1 was exactly one cour of 12 episodes.

My honest guess: Jump Festa will tell us the format and maybe a year, and the show itself lands sometime in 2027 at the earliest. Treat that as a fan's estimate. I'll update this post as soon as anything official drops.

That's about five hours of TV plus the movie. You can catch up in a weekend. The film follows on directly from the last episode, so don't skip Season 1.

Where to watch Chainsaw Man legally

Availability depends on your region:

Nobody has named a streaming partner for the Assassins Arc yet. Crunchyroll has handled both the series and the film outside Japan, so it's the obvious bet, but wait for the announcement.

Can I read ahead in the manga?

Yes. Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga is finished. Part 1 ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020. Part 2 ran on Shonen Jump+ from July 2022 to March 25, 2026. The series is complete in 24 volumes, the last released June 4, 2026. In English you can read it legally on Manga Plus and Viz's Shonen Jump service, or in Viz print volumes.

What the Assassins Arc adapts (light spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this section mentions the setup after the Reze Arc film. Skip to the bottom line if you're anime-only and want it fresh.

The Assassins Arc (fans also call it the International Assassins arc) starts right after the Reze Arc. Official promo material says it brings in assassins from around the world who are all after Denji's heart, plus new characters. In the manga it's chapters 53–70 (per CBR). If you want to start reading where the movie stops, start at chapter 53.

Bottom line
