Sakamoto Days Season 2 premieres in January 2027, only on Netflix. Netflix and the official anime site confirm the month, but as of November 5, 2026 the exact day, time and episode count are still TBA. The next big chance for a date is the Sakamoto Days panel at Jump Festa 2027 on Saturday, December 19, 2026.
TMS Entertainment is animating again, with a new director, three new cast members and the JCC assassin-school arc on the menu. Here's everything that's confirmed, and what isn't.

A note on the "Season 2" naming: Season 1 came out in two parts in 2025, Part 1 in January and Part 2 in July, for 22 episodes total. Don't mix up Season 1 Part 2 with Season 2: the January 2027 batch is the actual second season.
Where to watch Sakamoto Days Season 2
| Region | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Outside Japan | Netflix | Netflix's announcement says Season 2 is "only on Netflix" |
| Japan | TV broadcast + streaming | The official site says "第2期 2027年1月より放送開始" (Season 2 starts airing January 2027). Channel, slot and platforms not listed yet |
Season 1 is on Netflix right now, so that's where to catch up. In Japan, the official site says Season 1 streams on Netflix "and other platforms", so Japanese viewers usually get more options than the rest of us. Netflix catalogs and dub/subtitle languages can still vary by country, so check that the show is listed in yours.
How Season 1 released, as a clue: Part 1 debuted worldwide on Netflix on January 11, 2025, the same day it premiered on TV Tokyo. Part 2 released weekly on Mondays from July 14, 2025. Netflix hasn't said whether Season 2 drops weekly or all at once, but my guess (opinion, not confirmed) is weekly again, alongside the Japanese broadcast, since that's how both parts of Season 1 worked.

Who's making Season 2
Same studio, mostly the same core team, and a promotion in the director's chair:
- Studio: TMS Entertainment
- Director: Daisuke Nakajima (he directed Season 1's episode 22)
- Supervising director: Masaki Watanabe (Season 1's director)
- Series composition: Taku Kishimoto
- Character design: Yō Moriyama
- Music: Yūki Hayashi
Tomokazu Sugita (Taro Sakamoto) and Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shin Asakura) lead the Japanese cast again.
New cast for Season 2
| Character | Who they are | Japanese voice |
|---|---|---|
| Amane | A top JCC student with a grudge against the Assassins Alliance | Kikunosuke Toya |
| Etsuko Satōda | JCC's longest-serving teacher, who once trained Sakamoto | Misa Watanabe |
| Yotsumura | A mysterious founding member of ORDER | Shinshū Fuji |
The three got a character trailer on August 21, 2026, along with an alternate version of the teaser visual. English dub casting for Season 2 hasn't been announced.
What is Season 2 about? (light spoiler warning)
Light spoilers for the end of Season 1 and the Season 2 setup, based only on Netflix's official synopsis: Sakamoto and Shin go undercover at JCC (Japan Clear Creation), Japan's training academy for assassins, to dig up information on the mysterious "X", also called Slur. Meanwhile, ORDER members Nagumo, Shishiba and Osaragi head to Kyoto on a mission and get ambushed. The season also digs into the shared past of Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion and Slur.
If you're new: Taro Sakamoto was the greatest hit man around until he fell in love, retired, and opened a family-run convenience store in the suburbs of Tokyo. Then the bounty hunters show up. Start from Season 1 Episode 1; Season 2 continues where Season 1 left off.
My take (opinion): I live in Japan, and part of why this show clicks for me is how ordinary Sakamoto's world looks. The quiet neighborhood konbini, the bikes parked out front, the sale posters in the window: shops like that are on almost every corner here. That's exactly why the action hits so hard when it explodes inside one. The JCC arc trades that small-store setting for a whole school full of assassins, which is a big change of scale. With Watanabe still supervising and Nakajima stepping up after directing the Season 1 finale, I'm cautiously optimistic the action keeps its style.

Jump Festa 2027: the next big update
Jump Festa is Shueisha's yearly Shōnen Jump event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. On Day 1, Saturday, December 19, 2026, Sakamoto Days gets a 30-minute slot on the Jump Super Stage from 14:40 to 15:10 JST. The official schedule lists four voice actors:
- Tomokazu Sugita (Taro Sakamoto)
- Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shin Asakura)
- Nobuhiko Okamoto (Natsuki Seba)
- Kikunosuke Toya (Amane, a new character this season)
The official description pitches it as an event "just before" Season 2's premiere. Nobody has promised a date reveal there, but it's the obvious stage for one, and for a new trailer or theme song news. If you're in Japan on a Day 1 ticket, Jujutsu Kaisen is on the same stage that afternoon; our Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 release date guide has that panel's time.
What we'll update here
- The exact January 2027 premiere day and time
- Japan TV channel and time slot
- Episode count, and whether it's one or two cours (a cour is a roughly three-month TV block of about 11 to 13 episodes)
- Opening and ending theme songs
- English dub news
